The assembly bias of emission-line galaxies

چکیده
The next generation of spectroscopic surveys will target emission-line galaxies (ELGs) to produce constraints on cosmological parameters. We study the large scale structure traced by ELGs using a combination semi-analytical model galaxy formation, code that computes nebular emission from HII regions properties interstellar medium, and large-volume, high-resolution N-body simulation. consider fixed number density samples where are selected either their H$\alpha$, [OIII]$\lambda 5007$ or [OII]$\lambda \lambda 3727-3729$ line luminosities. investigate assembly bias signatures these samples, compare them those stellar mass SFR samples. Interestingly, we find [OIII]- [OII]-selected display scale-dependent scales also scale-dependent. Both effects more pronounced for lower [OIII] [OII] emitters contribute most dependence tend have low gas-phase metallicity preferentially found in low-density regions. measure baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) feature $\beta$ parameter related growth rate overdensities. slight tendency BAO peak shift toward smaller is at scales. Our results suggest ELG include environmental should be modelled order remove potential systematic errors could affect estimation

Emission Line Galaxies in Clusters
At the present epoch, clusters of galaxies are known to be a hostile environment for emission-line galaxies, which are more commonly found in low density regions outside of clusters. In contrast, going to higher redshifts the population of emission-line galaxies in clusters becomes progressively more conspicuous, and large numbers of star-forming late-type galaxies are observed. I present an ov...
متن کاملH I observations of emission - line galaxies
We present single-dish Lovell telescope H i observations of a sample of 67 emission-line and UV-excess galaxies, of which 52 are taken from the University of Michigan (UM) catalogue. In addition, H i observations of 24 gas-rich irregular galaxies are presented. We find that emission-line galaxies are H i–rich with a median H i mass to blue luminosity ratio MHI /LB of ∼ 0.45 M /L . Within the UM...
متن کاملFabry-Perot Survey of Emission-Line Galaxies
The recent results from a deep Fabry-Perot survey of nearby active and star-forming galaxies are presented. Line-emitting material is detected over two orders of magnitude in galactocentric radius, from the 100-pc scale of the active or starbursting nucleus out to several 10s of kpc, sometimes well beyond the optical confines of the host galaxies. The excitation and dynamical properties of the ...
متن کاملCO line emission from Lyman break galaxies
Context. The detection of the rotational lines of CO in proto-galaxies in the early Universe provides one of the most promising ways of probing the fundamental physical properties of a galaxy, such as its size, dynamical mass, gas density, and temperature. While such observations are currently limited to the most luminous galaxies, the advent of ALMA will change the situation dramatically, resu...
متن کاملThe Distribution of [OII] Emission-line Widths of LCRS Galaxies
We present a simple functional form for the joint distribution of R-band luminosity and [OII] 3727 emission-line equivalent widths of galaxies, and show that this form is a good fit to the galaxies in the Las Campanas Redshift Survey. We find a relationship between [OII] equivalent width W and R-band luminosity LR of the approximate form: 〈W 〉 ≈ (10Å)(LR/LR,∗), where LR,∗ is the characteristic ...
